GIS & Geospatial Engineering

Location intelligence, engineered like it matters.

Maps are easy to demo and hard to ship. Leopard Data treats geospatial as a first-class engineering discipline — the Esri/ArcGIS stack behind a property-risk analytics platform at FM Global, a greenfield multi-tenant subsurface-mapping SaaS on Azure, and map-driven products going back to an early Google Maps healthcare application. Geocoding, geospatial data architecture, GIS platform integration, and the map product on top — designed, built, and governed with 30+ years of production engineering behind it.

What We Do with Geospatial

Six disciplines, every one of them shipped on a real platform with real map data.

Esri / ArcGIS Platform Engineering

The full Esri stack as an engineering platform, not a desktop tool — ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro, arcpy Python automation, Workflow Manager, Experience Builder, geoprocessing/GP services, and Arcade. We integrate ArcGIS into the enterprise the same way we integrate any other production system: versioned, automated, and documented.

Geocoding & Location Data Quality

Multi-provider geocoding flows designed around the failure modes — we’ve evaluated five geocoders head-to-head to pick the right blend for a platform. Address deduplication, parcel data, and the data-quality plumbing that decides whether the pin lands on the right building.

Geospatial Data Architecture

Storage schemas for map data that survive scale — GeoJSON and Parquet layouts, KML/KMZ ingestion pipelines, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS-style schema design for map objects: lines, polygons, markers, layers, features, and tracks. The data model underneath the map is the part that actually decides the product.

Map-Driven Web & Mobile Products

Interactive map viewers and field tools users actually work in all day. We’ve run the Mapbox vs Google Maps platform evaluation with real pricing analysis, and designed offline mode for field crews who lose signal in the places the work happens.

Geospatial Processing at Scale

Satellite imagery-derived data processed through Databricks and Spark, with hands-on evaluations of Apache Sedona, Shapely, and Rasterio, and commercial data sources such as Ecopia and Precisely. When the geometry set outgrows one machine, the pipeline is the product.

GIS Security & Governance

Location data is sensitive data. We’ve authored the persona/permission authorization matrix for an Esri Workflow Manager layer and secured GIS APIs behind WAF and API management — so the map platform passes the same review as the rest of the enterprise.

Geospatial in the Wild — Real Engagements

Three map platforms across insurance, utilities, and healthcare. All of them shipped.

Insurance · Esri & Databricks

FM Global — Property-Risk Geospatial Platform

Leopard Data was Solutions Architect on the property risk analytics platform at one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers — designing the geospatial data architecture, including a five-geocoder evaluation and Parquet/GeoJSON storage schemas, alongside deep Esri stack work across ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, arcpy, and Workflow Manager. We authored the ArcGIS Pro CI/CD and project-management process documentation and produced the platform’s Esri authorization matrix.

Utilities · Azure SaaS

Multi-Tenant Subsurface-Mapping SaaS

For a national subsurface-mapping and utility-locating company, Leopard Data was Solutions Architect on a greenfield multi-tenant geospatial SaaS on Azure — designing the map-object microservice APIs (lines, polygons, markers, layers, features, tracks), the KML/KMZ/GeoJSON-to-database ingestion and schema, the multi-tenant sharing and permissions model, and offline mode for field crews. We ran the Mapbox vs Google Maps evaluation with real pricing analysis and led an offshore delivery team.

Healthcare · Google Maps

Provider-Visit Tracking Application

On an earlier engagement, Leopard Data built a Google Maps-based web application tracking in-home healthcare provider visits for anti-fraud verification — putting each visit on the map so the record could be checked against reality. Map-driven products aren’t a new line of business for us; they’re a long-running one.

Is your data trying to tell you where?

From Esri platform engineering and geocoding pipelines to geospatial data architecture and the map product on top, Leopard Data ships the real thing. Corp-to-Corp engagements out of Plano, TX.
