Fixed scope, fixed outcome. Most common for greenfield builds, modernization work, and case-study-shaped engagements like the TGL Golf platform.
Retainer
Ongoing weekly capacity for clients who want a senior architect on standby for design decisions, code review, and execution as needs arise.
Fractional Architect
Part-time advisory and design work. Weekly office hours plus async availability. The right fit for engineering teams that need senior judgment without a full-time hire.
Embedded
Allan sits with your team for one to three months. Same daily rhythms, same standups, same Slack channels. Used for migrations and high-stakes deliveries where on-the-ground presence matters.

AI-first development is not “let Claude write the code.” It’s knowing where AI accelerates you, where it slows you down, and where the architect has to step in. Used together, a single experienced engineer ships in weeks what a 10-person team used to ship in years.
The receipt is our TGL Golf engagement — production CI/CD onto Red Hat OpenShift across two environments — and our own SaaS platform, Grade My Investments: 195K+ lines of code, 596 unit tests, 11 background services, 4 client applications, 50+ Azure resources, all delivered solo in six months. That’s a 4× acceleration over what the same architect would have shipped with Stack Overflow alone.
05 Three Decades of Shipping
Leopard Data was founded in 2013 by W. Allan Edwards. Allan started writing software professionally at 19, recruited to Microsoft to work on the Visual C++ compiler team for the PowerPC architecture. He was hand-picked for one of Bill Gates’ pet projects — Visual Basic for Windows CE — where he wrote portions of the runtime in C. That was 1994.
Three decades later, he’s still shipping production code — now AI-first — for clients including Microsoft, IBM, Koch Industries, Fiserv, FM Global, Bell, Thomson Reuters, Pioneer Natural Resources, National Oilwell Varco, SiriusXM, Verizon, American Airlines, and TGL Golf.
